I have no clue.
Can I have an explanation along with the source- I need some guidance. I honestly am completely in the dark here.

I have Fedora 9 on this computer with the latest Apache + PHP + MySQL packages. I m also using a Netgear WPN824 v2 router (the computer is plugged into it via ethernet).

Now for some retarded reason- it all works wonderfully within our network- but outside of it (aka the actual internet)- typing the IP address does not work.

The machine with Apache is assigned 192.168.1.2. No matter how many times I have changed the port forwarding in the router settings + changed the Listening in httpd.cont it won t for some reason work. I have tried with port 80- port 85- and port 1111- and still nothing.

I have also disabled the firewall on the computer.

NOTHING WILL WORK!!!

Is there anybody kind enough to help me with a solution? :)
Oh and one more thing: yes I have been restarting Apache via "sudo apachectl graceful".

I actually now have:

Hi ! I m kinda lost in my career orientation. I m actually a university student in programmation. I m good in Java- I know a bit of C- C++ and Python. I want to make the move to web programming and I serioulsy don t know where to start.

Python- Rails- ASP I seriously don t know what to learn first. I made the switch to Linux so I don t think I will be developping .NET applications. I know a bit of HTML- XML and CSS. For the database part I know Oracle and a bit of MySQL.

The main fact is that I m no expert in any language. I know how to do small things in each of them but that s it. Is that normal ?? I mean I went to college in computer science and did one year at university and I still consider myself as a beginner programmer... Never made an exe. :P

So here s my questions :
- Do I need to be an expert in XHTML and CSS to make web applications ?
- Where should I start ? I think Ruby on Rails is a great thing to start with...

Hi All- I have a site which has the Database size about 8 MB. I need a free MySQL server which allows me to host a database more than 10 MB.

I would like to learn the core of AJAX with PHP and
MySQL intergration.
