What would be the basic command to have sql grab the value of a html textbox.

example.....
<input type="text" name="uname" id="username">

What would be the SQL code to obtain the value of this textbox. ?
This isnt homework lol- just a personal web page i am creating

for example can I have a MySQL db about 1GB and still works good?

I - I am trying to use MYSQL under wamp for the very first time. I need to create a database- or at least try before I end up hiring someone to do it for me..can you please tell me the very firt step I need to do ? I went under database butthere is so much info- I dont know were to begin.

Also- does this go online- live right away as Im building it? Becasue after I downloaded wamp I noticed that there was someting called side NOTE on my desktop too- but Imnot sure if this is just part of Vista?
