I am looking for an excel spreadsheet or mysql table containing all US zip codes and corresponding city names for some programming work I am doing. To my shock and horror- I cannot find a place to get this information for free.

Where can I get this list for free?

I am a experienced web programmer with basic language skills (HTML- CSS- javascript- etc.) I m starting to learn php and want to use an online MySQL database to store data.

I ve managed to setup a local MySQL database (after LOTS of work) and now I want to put it online. My question: Where would my MySQL database be stored- on my computer or on an external server?

For example- I host my sites with NAThosting - where I use a FTP program to upload files. Those files are then stored on their servers somewhere. My locals files have no influence on the pages until they re uploaded and then stored where ever. When I want to use a database- will that be stored on their computers/servers much like my HTML pages or will the server need to be permanently running on my home CPU?

i use a robot that fetches and updates links to news sources. I have a directory on my desktop to where the links are fetched. If i wanted these links to go directly to MySQL database and are updated in the database itself- what should i do?

I have tried to upload various php forum scripts- some requiring mysql and some not. I have tried using their Java applet- but it simply would not load. I have tried using another FTP client- but it ended up in an error saying i did not have permission. I ve tried this with various computers- php scripts- ftp methods- so I m pretty sure the problem is Bravenet itself.
